India is home to over 1.4 billion people, making it the most populous country on earth. Yet,behind its growing economy and global influence lies a spiritual and humanitarian crisis.Focus India exists to address this crisis withurgency,compassion, and long-termcommitment.
1. Unreached and Unaware: The Deep Spiritual Need
India has the largest number of unreached people groups in the world over 2,135 distinctgroups. These communities are not just unreached, they are unengaged they have no church,no missionaries, and in many cases, no knowledge that Jesus exists.While churches in other nations struggle with apathy, millions in India have never even heardthe name of Christ.

2. Persecution is Real: Christians in Danger
More than 20 years later, the danger is still real especially in regions like Odisha, where Focus India is currently working. Our missionaries quietly serve in remote and hostile areas, standing with local believers, often at great personal risk.
Despite the hostility, the church is growing. These faithful brothers and sisters need encouragement, training, and resources and we are committed to standing with them.
3. Poverty, Illiteracy, and Vulnerability
- Over 25% of adults are illiterate (UNESCO, 2023). Many of them lack not justreading skills, but also basic knowledge of hygiene, financial planning, and parenting.
- More than 130 million people live on less than $1.25 a day (World Bank). Hunger is a daily reality.
- Child labor remains widespread. Families under economic pressure often pull children out of school to earn wages, creating a cycle of poverty and vulnerability that lasts generations.
Through local partnerships and long-term presence, Focus India reaches these communities where no one else goes deep into remote villages, slums, and tribal lands.
